This comprehensive course will explain the occasions when a chaperone is needed, why a chaperone is to be offered to patients, and the crucial role and responsibilities of the chaperone during the consultation.
Objectives
- Understand the role of chaperones in general practice
- Why chaperones must be trained for their role
- To look at both the need for chaperones and try to understand best practice. We look at the difficulties and opportunities and how to respond.
- Learn the rights of the patient in relation to examinations and chaperones
- Understand the importance of accurate record-keeping
- Understand the needs of vulnerable patients
- Understand empathy requirements and how to be supportive.

All staff new to general practice or existing staff who wish to develop their level of understanding and take on the role of a Chaperone.
Indented for those who have not previously completed Chaperone training before.
