An Introduction to Medical Terminology – 01/10/2025

This thorough and informative session has been designed to help delegates understand the various elements of medical terminology. The aim is to increase learners’ vocabulary and their understanding of medical terminology, as well as increasing their confidence in its usage.

This course is a practical response. This includes some methodological approaches to use in the work-place and some mindfulness techniques.

Objectives

  • Understand the basics of medical terminology, including word building
  • Gain an overview of anatomy and physiology through an interactive tour of the body
  • Learn the commonly used drug prescribing abbreviations
  • Understand and learn medical abbreviations
  • Discover the terminology associated with healthcare specialities and procedures.

Designed for
All staff new to general practice/ healthcare or those existing staff who wish to enhance their level of understanding.

 

Platform

Microsoft Teams: This session will require each attendee to have access to a computer or smart device with a camera, speakers and microphone.

 

Training delivered by:

"All GPS training is written and delivered by Alan Molineaux. Educated to Masters Degree level, Alan has many year’s experience in leadership in both industry and the charity sector. He has been delivering training for NHS Primary Care groups for over 15 years."

  • Training is often funded or subsidised by the Lincolnshire LMC, if you need to cancel the place, you can do so online up to 7 days before the event date after that time please contact the Lincolnshire LMC on 01522 576 659.
  • If you fail to cancel your place within a reasonable time then you/ your employer may be invoiced for the cost of the place.
  • We ask that prior to booking, attendees check their calendars to make sure they are not on leave or have other commitments. We also ask that attendees give as much notice as possible when cancelling, so that the place can be used by someone else.
