National Performers List and GP Registrars

Fully qualified GPs must be on the National Performers List for England before they can see patients in a Primary Care setting. GPs in training do not have to be on the Performers List. However, they do need to be included on the list at the point that they complete training prior to delivering primary care services as an independent GP.

We encourage GP Registrars to apply to the list a maximum of 6 months and a minimum of 3 months before their anticipated completion of training date. This will ensure a smooth transition to working once they complete training.

EOY Pensions update

Each NHS Pension scheme member who worked in primary care during the 2023/24 financial year must now complete the appropriate end of year pensions form.

NHS England can then ensure that all NHS pension contributions have been correctly paid, by the member and their employers, and allocated correctly to the member’s NHS Pension Scheme record.

2025/26 Estimates

The 2025/26 Estimate of Pensionable Profit and Earnings form is now available to complete in PCSE Online.

Every GP surgery and APMS contractor that is an NHS Pension Scheme employing authority is required to complete and submit this form, by the deadline of Friday 28 February 2025.

Completing the practice Estimate on PCSE Online can be done in 5 minutes for the majority of practices by following these steps. Find out more here.

Requesting Immediate Removals

The most efficient way to request the immediate removal of a patient is to use our dedicated, secure Patient Removals form. This ensures your request is passed directly to the team with all the information needed to action the removal without delay.

The removal of a patient in these circumstances results in them being allocated to a provider of the Special Allocation Scheme (SAS).

An immediate removal can only be requested when an incident involving the patient has been reported to the police by your practice.

For further information, please see our FAQs on Patient Removals.

Temporary resident (GMS3) form best practice

We’ve received a number of questions from primary care colleagues about the process for and the value of returning temporary resident forms, also known as GMS3 forms.

If a patient is away from their home, temporarily residing in your GP practice area or location, and needs to see a doctor for medical advice or treatment and you treat this patient, a GMS3 form should be completed, with all the patient’s details. This form can be completed by the practice administration team and the notes concerning their illness, to completed by the GP. The form and any accompanying notes, or information will be passed onto the patient’s registered GP practice, to ensure continuation of care and up to date medical record.

You’ll find more detailed information about GMS3 forms, such as how to return them, how to receive them and more, on our dedicated page on the PCSE website.
