GPC England have written to NHSE to inform that GPCE is now in dispute with NHSE over the 24/25 GMS contract. (link at bottom of page)

The letter reads:

“Dear Amanda,

I am writing to you to inform you that the BMA’s GPCE (General Practitioners Committee England) is now in dispute with NHS England in relation to the 2024/25 General Medical Services Contract for General Practice.

This follows on from the decision by NHSE and the Government to impose the 2024/25 contract, despite unequivocal rejection. Firstly, by GPCE, when we told you the committee had unanimously rejected the proposed changes on 1st February 2024. Then secondly by the profession, after we set out the GPCE solutions rejected by NHSE and Government, in the BMA’s referendum on the 2024/25 contract in March 2024. In our referendum, more than 19,000 GPs voted, with 99.2% voting not to accept the contract. This included votes from nearly 75% of the BMA’s GP contractor/partner members.

In the next 24 hours we will be writing to each Integrated Care Board in England to highlight this dispute and our advice to add potential GP action onto their system risk register.

We remain committed to finding mutually acceptable solutions to this dispute to benefit patients and practices and safeguard the long-term future of general practice in England. I hope to discuss with you and the Government in the coming weeks how such action can be avoided.”
